Young Filipino filmmakers focus lens on climate change awareness in 6th Indie-Siyensya Film Festival

Engaging the youth with talks on climate change can sometimes be daunting and boring. But not for the hundreds of young filmmakers and storytellers who dared to change this narrative as they joined the 6th Indie-Siyensya Filmmaking Competition of the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).
The competition received an overwhelming response of about 267 short films from all over the Philippines, all relevant to this year’s theme “Communicating Climate Change.”
DOST-SEI announces qualifiers to the 2022 Bangon Marawi Program

A total of 59 second year college students secure educational grants as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announces the names of qualifiers under the DOST-SEI Bangon Marawi Program in Science and Technology Human Resource Development (STHRD) – Batch 3.
These successful examinees are among the 147 who took the pen-and-paper qualifying examination administered by the DOST-SEI on November 17, 2022 at the Mindanao State University-Main Campus (Marawi).
DOST-SEI lauds 1,802 students for excellence in STEM

The country continues to make a name on the international stage as students from various regions in the country bag 5,060 gold, silver, and bronze medals in 2021. This was in full display during the online awarding ceremony of the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) awards of the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute through its Facebook page last November 25, 2022.
As part of the activities of the 2022 National Science and Technology Week celebration, the DOST-SEI has conferred 1,802 YES medals to elementary and high school students who have won gold, bronze, and silver medals either individually or by group on international science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competition.
21st Century Classrooms Rise in Calamba City

After two years of waiting, the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) finally launched and inaugurated the 21st Century Learning Environment Model (21st CLEM) in the three school-adopters in the Division of Calamba City, Laguna last 12th of November 2022.
The three school-adopters of the model, namely, the Calamba City Science Integrated School, Camp Vicente Lim Integrated School, and Looc Integrated School, displayed the various technology-driven features of their classrooms such as the 3D printer, robotics, interactive projector-smartboard, drone, and visualizer.
