DOST-SEI study: Pinay scientists on the rise

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields in the Philippines have become appealing to more and more Filipino women.
Researchers from the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) recently found that there is significant increase in the number of females in the field of STEM. The study entitled “Women in Science” focused on the state of Filipino women and girls pursuing careers in STEM and was launched last March 31, as part of DOST-SEI's celebration of women’s month.

A perfect score seals the deal in the recently concluded 24th Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO).
Raphael Dylan T. Dalida of the Philippine Science High School – Main Campus, a veteran and a two-time medalist at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), topped over two dozen finalists in this year’s PMO with a perfect score, a rare feat in the national competition.
DOST-SEI launches search for most innovative STEM teachers

While best known for honing science professionals through its various scholarship programs, the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) also seeks to further capacitate teachers to ensure a holistic approach in developing science education in the country. To this, the Institute recently launched its 2022 Search for the Brightest STAR, a recognition program under its Science Teacher Academy for the Regions (STAR) training program.
