Dagupan to Host 1st Robotics Science Fair

Students and teachers in Dagupan and those in other areas of Pangasinan will be the first to experience an event that is devoted to the science of robotics.
The Science Education Institute (SEI) and the City Government of Dagupan (CGD) through its leaders, Dr. Josette T. Biyo and Honorable Mayor Belen T. Hernandez, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to bring together the 1stDagupan City Robotics Science Fair in November.
The collaboration, which aims to inculcate scientific innovation and robotics learning among the kids of Dagupan City and other areas of Pangasinan, is an outcome of a partnership that started when SEI celebrated the World Space Week in the city in 2011.
DOST-SEI recognizes top Bicolano science scholars

Forty-three (43) scholar-graduates who recently finished their degrees with honors and placed high in their licensure exams were recognized by the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) during the celebration of the 2014 Southern Luzon Cluster Science and Technology Fair in Legaspi City, Albay.
The ceremony was part of the “In Touch with Excellence” awarding program of SEI which it conducted in July.
SEI Director Dr. Josette Biyo, who led the awarding ceremony, congratulated the honorees for demonstrating excellence and passion for science. She said “the country needs more engineers, scientists, researchers, biologists, chemists, and other S & T manpower to drive economic development”.
More graduate S&T scholarships seen

Graduate scholarship slots provided by the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) are expected to increase next year.
This, as the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resources Development Program – Science Education Consortium (ASTHRDP-SEC) welcomes universities in Luzon offering master’s and doctoral programs in Science and Mathematics Education (SME).
During the 2014 National Science and Technology Week celebration, a Memorandum of Understanding among the member universities of the ASTHRDP-SEC was signed to officially include Ateneo de Manila University, Bicol University, Central Luzon State University, De La Salle University, Mariano Marcos State University and Philippine Normal University in the National Consortium in Graduate Science and Mathematics Education, joining the original members - West Visayas State University, University of San Carlos, Western Mindanao State University, and Mindanao State University – Marawi City.
